Grand Teton National Park is back open as of yesterday! What better way to celebrate but to go on a sunrise shoot?
I originally planned setting up to shoot near the bridge at North Jenny Lake junction, but once there my eyes roamed the place and did not find what I was looking for. So I decided to chance something new... I started driving down the one-way scenic road along Jenny Lake. I wasn't sure if there'd be any spots to pull over for photos or not - and it was only 10 minutes till sunrise! A risk...
... That payed off fairly well. I found a spot where I wished I had a wider lens to use, and I believe it could be a new "Zuk favorite" for photography. My dad, Ken Zuk
, would especially love the rocky shore here. Sorry dad, will take you there sometime!
I got there just in time to catch some gorgeous alpenglow. Enjoy the photos!
Panorama of Jenny Lake. In mid-left of photo is Cascade Canyon. Most prominent and forward mountain on left is Teewinot, which I climbed this season.
Closeup of the Tetons. From left to right: Teewinot, Grand Teton, Mount Owen. The Grand is hard to pick out, but the tip is there.
When you don't have a wide-angle lens to capture the shore and the mountain tops, try this trick used here: panorama of three landscape-oriented photos stacked on top of one another.
Or you can back up a bit and capture some interesting grass around the rocks. :)

The rocky shore I said my dad would love... unfortunately my lens wasn't wide enough to capture them with the lake and mountains in the background.
A cool textured rock in Jenny Lake, Tetons in background.
Capturing the details... fall colors have fallen.
It was a great spot I plan to return to as soon as we get a bit of fresh snow. Imagine these rocks with some snow on top, with a wider angle lens I'm going to borrow!
Thanks for stopping by...
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us foradoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us inthe Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance untilwe acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory."
Great photos Derrick!!! This is where I got some fantastic photos with your mom on May 11, 11. The lake was still frozen and the mountains had snow. It's my screen saver and I see it everyday. It is a favorite spot for me, too. Love all the photos you've added. "Mom T"ReplyDelete
